rolling

Wax rolls best around normal room temperature 21-27ºC or 70-80ºF.

If your card/wax is cold or frozen, WAIT. Leave the card in a room until it reaches normal room temp. then begin rolling or WARM the wax slightly with a hairdryer set on low to make it soft and pliable. If you try rolling cold beeswax, it will be brittle and can fall a part.

Do not store either your card, wax or candle in direct sunlight because the wax will melt.

On the 2 fold cards:

1. Remove the wax by gently tearing away the corner slots which hold the wax to the card.

On the 3 fold cards:

1. Remove the wax from the card by gently pulling the instruction page away at the foam spacers.

2. Remove any non-wax decorations - the glitter we use does not need to be removed - it is designed for candles.

3. Place wax sheets wick-side-up on a smooth, flat surface. Have the wick side closest to your body for ease of rolling.

4. ‘Pinch’ the wax evenly around the wick and begin rolling. The first ‘pinch’ has been done for you! Applying even pressure with both hands, begin to roll the candle making sure to keep straight so the bottom of the candle will be even when it is completely rolled. If your rolling starts to go crooked, unroll to where it started to go awry and roll again. Beeswax is soft and pliable when it is at normal room temperature.

5. On the last roll, trim the wax sheets even with the shortest layer (scissors work great!).

6. Complete the final roll and gently press the edges into the body of the candle to seal. Many times the heat of your hand is enough to seal the edge, however you can use a hairdryer set on low to ‘gently’ melt the wax edges into the body to give your candle a better seal. Be careful not to add to much heat from your hairdryer because you can melt the wax into a blob!

7. Done! Place in a heat resistant candle holder, light and enjoy your very own creation! Make sure the wick is trimmed to 1/4" before lighting. Most of our wicks are pre-trimmed for you, however one may have gotten by inspection and is a little longer. If your candle doesn’t fit into your candle holder, here is what you can do…

If it is too big and thick to fit into the base, you have 2 options:

1. Gently squeeze the bottom of the base of the candle so it is more rounded until it fits in your holder

2. Unroll a little from your sealed edge and cut a little more off the length of your candle until it fits in your candle holder.

If your candle base is too small for your candle holder your 2 options are:

1. Add a piece of the strip of wax that you cut off to the base of the candle and seal the edge (follow step 6)

2. Unroll your candle and re-roll not rolling so tight.
